Holiday Party Safety Tips to Prevent Slip and Falls
When you invite guests to a holiday party, it’s your responsibility as the property owner to ensure guest safety. Guard against potential slip and falls:
- Illuminate all indoor and outdoor walking paths including sidewalks, stairways, driveways, and parking lots.
- Create clear, navigable walking paths.
- Make sure floor decorations are secured and any electrical cords, streamers, or other adornments are out of the way of where guests walk.
- Monitor for spilled food or drinks, especially on hardwood, vinyl, or tile flooring, and quickly clean up any spills that occur.
- Store guests’ belongings like purses, coats, and shoes out of the way – these items can become a trip hazard, especially in high-traffic areas.
- Do not serve alcohol to visibly intoxicated guests.
- Fix any broken or uneven railings, floorboards, steps, or sidewalks/Clearly mark any uneven or broken sidewalks.
- In the event of wet weather, lay down rugs or slip-free mats inside doorways.
Don’t let an injury put an abrupt end to your holiday merriment.
