Summer Driving Safety Tip #3: Maintain a comfortable driving environment.

Extreme summer heat presents a serious challenge to drivers, regardless if you’re driving to a vacation destination, on a day-trip for summer fun, or simply commuting to the office.

The hotter it gets outside, the warmer it gets in your vehicle. If your AC fails to keep your interior cool enough, driving can become uncomfortable, even dangerous. Exposure to prolonged periods of heat can lead to fatigue, brain fog, dizziness, headaches, confusion, slow reaction times, and distracted driving.

Protect yourself, your passengers, and other drivers on the road by staying hydrated and reducing your risk of heat-related illnesses. Park in the shade. Use a sun shield when parked to minimize heat buildup. Avoid driving between 12pm and 4pm, the hottest part of the day, when possible. And always keep up with vehicle maintenance.

If you’ve been injured because of a negligent or reckless driver, you could be entitled to compensation.
