Common Causes of Car Accidents #14: S-curves and curvy/winding roads.

Buffalo has a few notoriously dangerous curved roads, like the Delaware Avenue S-curves. Approaching curves at high speeds puts you at risk for skidding or losing control of your vehicle. Protect yourself and others by:

1. Reducing speed: Most accidents can be prevented on winding or curvy roads simply by slowing down. Curved roads are typically well-marked, giving you ample time to reduce your speed.

2. Stay in your lane: Never switch lanes abruptly or without signaling and checking all mirrors and blind spots.

3. Position your car to the side of your lane opposite the direction of the curve. As you drive through the curve, ease your vehicle to the other side of your lane, then ease back to the center as you approach the end of the bend. This minimizes the severity of the curve.
