Winter Driving & Low Tire Tread Depth
With the gift giving season approaching, it’s easy to put off costly auto repairs like purchasing new tires until after the new year. You may think to yourself, “What’s the harm?” One of the worst things you can do during winter is drive on improper tires (like summer tires) or tires with low tread depth and pressure.
Why? Because summer tires harden and lose flexibility in cold weather, wear out faster, and lack proper tread to handle snowy conditions.
Tires with little or no remaining tread can’t effectively grip snowy or icy streets. Without grip, tires don’t have enough traction. This increases your risk of sliding or skidding, reduces your ability to handle your vehicle, and makes it take longer to brake or stop.
Low tire tread puts you at a higher risk for a collision. Don’t put yourself, your family, other drivers, or pedestrians at risk.
Prioritize safety and replace your tires today.
