Fall Driving Tip #5: Be Cautious in Early Morning Frost

We may see high temperatures during the day but when temps drop overnight, it’s common to wake up and find early morning frost covering your windshield. As you once again acclimate to changing seasons, protect yourself and others on the road, and be cautious when driving in early morning frost:

  • Wait for windows to completely defrost so you have total visibility.
  • Reduce speed and increase following distance – roads can be slippery, especially on bridges or overpasses.
  • Brake and accelerate gently; no sudden or sharp stops/turns if possible.
