Easter Egg Hunt Safety
Easter egg hunts are a joyful way to celebrate the holiday but when inviting guests – especially children – to your house, business, or property for an eggs-travaganza, it’s essential you plan ahead, prep to prevent slips, trips, and falls, and remain vigilant throughout the event.
Crowded venues, uneven terrain, and improperly managed equipment such as inflatables, stage setups, or electrical cords/equipment, all pose safety hazards.
Protect your guests:
- Choose a safe, child-friendly location that is easily monitored.
- If the hunt is indoors, fix any loose floorboards, broken steps, or damaged railings, create clear walking paths, and remove any obstructions.
- Mark or tape off staircases, wet floors, areas under construction, uneven pavement, or dangerous sections of your lawn you want guests to avoid.
- Before the hunt begins, lay out the rules and inform children and their parents about egg hunt boundaries so they don’t wander into eggless areas with potential trip hazards, into roadways or parking lots, or onto adjacent properties.
- Have extra adults on hand to monitor the group at large to minimize risk.
