Spring Travel Tip #6: Don’t rely on cruise control.
Cruise control was basically built for long distance drives. Not only does it improve your fuel efficiency and effortlessly maintain speed, it allows the driver an opportunity to sit more comfortably, rest their legs, and reduce physical strain.
And yet, cruise control allows for lower concentration levels, making you more susceptible to distractions, drowsiness, slow reaction times, and loss of focus. Cruise control doesn’t mean “self-driving” and it doesn’t negate your need to slow down, break, or react to sharp turns, changes in speed limits, or changes in traffic or road conditions.
Always be aware of the vehicles around you and the road ahead. Use cruise control but don’t rely on it. Instead, periodically switch to manual control to keep yourself alert.
