Common Causes of Car Accidents #9: Nighttime driving.
Drivers face many hazards when driving in the dark including drowsy or impaired drivers, reduced visibility of roadside obstacles such as animals, cyclists, and pedestrians, headlight glare, and more.
Protect yourself and others by:
• Avoiding driving if tired or you’ve been drinking
• Clean your windshield and mirrors to prevent or lessen headlight glare
• Reduce or limit interior lights to improve night vision
• Adjust your headlights and only use high beams if there are no oncoming cars
• Slow down and be extra vigilant of negligent drivers
• Always stop at red lights and stop signs
• Never stare directly at oncoming headlights
• Watch for wildlife
