Winter Safety Tip for Business Owners #2: Salt or de-ice all walkways, steps, decks/patios, and parking lots.

Black ice is dangerous for both pedestrians and drivers.

Stock up on your preferred salt or de-icer (like magnesium chloride which is pet safe and environmentally friendly!) and then be proactive about throwing it down on all walking paths, stairways, decks or patios, and parking lots. Not only can it melt thin layers of ice that have formed, if thrown down early enough it can prevent ice from forming.

Remember: de-icer doesn’t work on snow so be sure to frequently shovel or clear away snow first.
